ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to reconstruct two significant debates on Marx’s explanation of ground-rent. The first debate concerns the source of surplus-value that constitutes ground-rent and is linked to the problem of the international flow of surplus-value between countries. The second discussion deals with the nature of differential rent II and is linked to the question of capital investment in agricultural production. The article critically engages with the main arguments in each of the different perspectives and presents their respective implications for the analysis of key aspects of capital accumulation in Argentina.
