ABSTRACT
In the last decades, critics to marxian analysis of social classes have developed so widely within the social sciences that we seem to have reached the point of, in order to rule out such analysis, it would suffice with mention its “so many times pooved already” apocryphal and backward character. Against this position, in this paper I intent to develop a critical analysis of the marxian theory of social classes. To do so, I will first analyse what is usually presented as the clasic marxian theory of social classes, in order to analyse later in detail the defense and deepening of it that the neomarxian theory intended to do with it. Finally, I propose an alternative research program to engage in a single and coherent explanation of social classes.
